In December 2008 Sigma Nu’s old Fraternity house burned down due to uncertain causes. Left with no house and an uncertain future the Fraternity began an intensive fundraising effort in April of 2009 with the goal of significantly upgrading our house to one of the best on campus. This included a brick campaign, organizational work for businesses, manual labor projects such as clearing brush off of ranches, and other projects that continue today. As of now, the active chapter has raised a total of $25,000. Combined with the insurance money we received we have secured financing for a new flagship house. However, fundraising efforts continue for improvements and additions to the house.
Our most successful fundraiser has been our personalized brick campaign. This campaign is offering anybody that wishes, the chance to etch their name, pin number, quote, business logo, or whatever they prefer, into the history of the new house forever. We are offering:
4"x8" red bricks - $200
8"x8" red bricks - $500
12"x12" red bricks - $1,000
These bricks will be placed in the most visible area of our new house, the back patio. As you can see, there is a price here for everyone. One of the best things that you and others can do to help progress the new house is to talk to friends, family, alumni, and business contacts to see if they would like to contribute. An additional fundraising opportunity comes with the ability to purchase naming rights to rooms in the new house:
Chapter/Dining Room - $10,000
Formal Living Room - $8,000
The Game Room - $5,000
Each Bedroom (25) - $1,500
Each Room will be adorned with a bronze or steel plaque with the name of the sponsor, and what they wish to have engraved on the plaque.
We are also always looking for additional projects to raise money. We recently cleared Mr. and Mrs. Jones’ ranch in Giddings, Texas for $1,000. If you know of any opportunities for us to fundraise, please let us know.
